Five benefits of an electric UTV

UTVs also known as side-by-sides (SXS) or off-road buggies have a strong foothold in a whole range of industries and in doing so, companies such as Polaris offer a wide variety of models to suit your needs. With its brand-new all-electric RANGER XP Kinetic hitting the market, electric UTVs are sure to rise in prominence amongst utility users across the globe. So, what are the main reasons for choosing an electric UTV?

Here are five benefits of choosing electric for your next UTV:

1. Electric UTVs are better for the environment

Like any electric car, an electric UTV can simply be recharged at home using renewable energy meaning they don’t produce carbon emissions like a petrol or diesel engine does, therefore they are much better for the environment as there is less pollution. For those looking to reduce their carbon footprint, an electric UTV is a great option.

2. Electric UTVs are quiet, there is no noise pollution

Another great trait of an electric side-by-side is that they are quiet, there is no noisy engine disturbing the wildlife meaning you will be able to hear the birds again. It also means when you are out and about on the trails or running your daily errands there is no disturbance to the environment. Additionally, electric UTVs are great for hunting due to their stealth-like drive.

3. Electric side-by-sides are lower maintenance and cheaper to run

By owning an electric side-by-side, you can enjoy the benefits of not having to worry about the upkeep of maintenance such as oil changes. There are also fewer moving parts so there is a reduced chance of things not going right. Also charging your electric side-by-side at home means that there is the convenience of plugging the electric UTV in when you get back from a day’s work and it’s ready to go for the next one. Scheduled maintenance costs are expected to be 70% less than average maintenance costs for similar fuel-powered vehicles.

Electric SXSs are cheaper to run thanks to their fewer moving parts and the fact they can be refuelled/recharged with electricity at home. With petrol and diesel prices through the roof fuel budgeting is a thing of the past. The RANGER XP Kinetic provides you with an estimated range of 45 miles (70 kilometres) which is plenty for a single day’s work. Alternatively, if you are worried about the range, the Polaris RANGER XP Kinetic is available in an Ultimate trim providing you with up to 80 miles (130 kilometres) of range*.

4. Electric UTVs are more powerful thanks to instantaneous torque

Electric UTVs have an engine that provides instant torque when the accelerator pedal is pressed which means you no longer have to wait for the engine to rev up before hauling heavy loads. The RANGER XP Kinetic has an impressive towing capacity of 1134kg, combined with the instantaneous torque, you can be sure the toughest jobs get done.

5. Electric UTVs are smoother to drive at low speeds

Thanks to being fully electric, the RANGER XP Kinetic also delivers smooth, precise control when operating at low speeds, especially useful in scenarios like towing, spraying or backing up to a trailer. Pair that with performance features like its new shifter design with high, low, neutral and park, and the new, integrated switch for forward and reverse so customers change directions with the flip of a switch, making tasks like plowing fast and efficient. In addition to high and low gear, RANGER XP Kinetic also has three drive modes for maximum versatility optimised to driving conditions and range management: Eco+ for maximum range; Standard for everyday driving; and Sport that optimises throttle response.

* Range estimates based on manufacturer data on typical customer driving usage and conditions. Actual range varies based on conditions such as external environment, weather, speed, cargo loads, rates of acceleration, vehicle maintenance, and vehicle usage.
