Tackling fugitive methane emissions from livestock manure slurry is an important solution to hitting our climate targets. Methane is very damaging as a greenhouse gas and contributes significantly to climate change, in fact, it is far more damaging that CO2 having over 80- times the impact over the first 20 years of its lifetime in the atmosphere.

Our system is able to capture the fugitive methane by covering and closing slurry lagoons with our smart cover designs, which is scalable to different side lagoons. It is then put through a cleaning process which takes out the unwanted gases like Hydrogen Sulphide and Ammonia and upgrades it to road grade bio-fuel known as Compressed Fugitive Methane CFM and Liquid Fugitive Methane LFM. This can then be used in farm vehicles such as the New Holland methane tractor and Green Gas commercial transport and also sold, creating an additional profit for the farmer.

Completely burning fugitive methane in an engine, prevents it from entering the atmosphere and the CO2 that is released in the exhaust is the same amount that the grass absorbed in the first place, completing the circular cycle and making it carbon neutral. The material left behind in the lagoon, known as a digestate is then a natural concentrated fertiliser that has been proven to improve soil biology reducing the need for expensive, artificial fertilisers establishing a sustainable economy based agricultural model for livestock farming.
