Consultant. Julian is an agro-economist with thirty plus years in various roles within policy-making bodies, which have taken him around the world to work on sustainability markets and economics of agriculture. Agrecalc founder and responsible for leading the business development, and consultancy along the supply chain regarding carbon, feasibility and resource efficiency of crop production and rural business. “Carbon is a business issue, probably the business issue of our times. Reducing carbon emissions from agriculture has to be done, but it can only be done whilst maintaining and even improving profitability.”

Baselining, measuring, insetting

Agrecalc plans to start the session on GHG removal and carbon farming by introducing the importance of baselining your farm’s carbon emissions. Baselining and measuring can allow you to benchmark yourself against best and worst performers in your area, or in your enterprise. This will in turn help you understand the mitigation measures that can be applied and the cost / benefit to your farm.

Furthermore, taking a carbon insetting approach will allow an individual farmer or company to make changes that avoid or remove carbon emissions within their own business, with the ability to create localised impact and benefits beyond carbon reduction.
